About these letters
The idea of writing you these letters started when I was away, studying in Australia back in 2007. Back in the Philippines at that time, there was your mom, and you, Mikey, were just six months old while you, Christian, were yet to be conceived. During my time there, I sometimes had the urge to share my thoughts with you. They were just random things about life and the lessons I’ve learned along the way. I wanted to keep a record of them so that when you were old enough to understand what I had to say, they would be there for you.
My hope is that I’m able to give both of you a head start in life, any way I can. Writing these letters is one of those ways. I can’t make any guarantees, but I hope they help. I also take inspiration from Fernando Savater’s book, Amador, which he wrote for his son. Like Mr. Savater, I want to share as much of what I know with you, but I also do not want to force it upon you.
These letters are here for you when you’re ready. I hope they find you well.
